Darkbloom

Sweet little tales entice me, I only fall so far

He hides his true eyes beneath disguise, wolf in lambs hide

A hunter on the chase & I’m his game,

I was too weak to run

Little girl accustomed to sharing her heart, sits alone besides the river

I step out into the river and let the water take me, the one place he cannot reach me

He cannot get me there,

He never learned to swim

He cannot get me there,

He never knew my heart

Our fairy-tale will never reach

a happy ever after,

A story with no morals nor need for floral, only poison withdrawal

I cut the buds, rather than allowing for another dark bloom

I was told to be cautious, but lapped his poison like nectar

Surrendering to temptations, knowing these moments were fleeting

I cannot love, not again,

I’m glad I learned to swim

I cannot love, not again,

I’m still finding who I am

The silence of my undoing was all I longed to speak,

Enthralled by the sound of his silver tongue, but I belong to the rivers song

The river cleansed me, taught me a lesson, freed me

He who captured butterflies would hold the power to tear away their wings

I kiss goodbye to his brief sweetness, now butterflies fly free

He cannot get me there, He never learned to swim

He cannot get me there, He never knew my heart
